Description of weatherstation
Our Weatherstation is based on radio controlled ELV Funkwetterstation 2000 from German manufacturer ELV GmbH, which combines multiple sensors for inside and outside temperature, humidity, pressure, as well as wind and rain sensors.
Instead of using the regular base station we use the PC-radio receiver board by ELV to feed the data into our servers, where an application written by us reads those data, keeps track of current weather and updates the databases every 5 minutes. A CGI-script on our web-server reads this database on your request and creates the current graphs as seen above, therefore delivers only the most recent weather data that are no older than 5 minutes in maximum.
Our outside sensor for temperature and humidity is located in the north east corner of our apartment block, well protected against sun (except in the early morning hours, which you can notice by a more sharp than normal temperature rise in the sunshine mornings). Rain- und windsensors are located at the roof of our apartment block, their data are transmitted to the terasse in the second floor via a repeater transmitter and from there come back into the office (8th floor) via another repeater.
Elevation at our site is 440 meters (1440 feet), therefore the difference between measured ambient pressure (QFE) is quite different from the pressure that you would see at sealevel (QNH).
